After growing up on the east coast, I've called New Mexico home since 1984. My husband Brett and I discovered
a jewel in Angel Fire and the Moreno Valley after searching for a place to build our dream vacation home.
(We used to camp quite a bit until a lightning storm one night nudged us into thinking a vacation home, rather
than a vacation tent, would be better!) The first day we drove into Angel Fire is the day we purchased land here.
The tall pine trees and greenery reminded my (kiwi) husband of New Zealand, something he missed since we were living
in Santa Fe which does not have many tall pine trees and where brown in the predominant color. That summer my husband,
a contractor, began building our handcrafted log home. We loved the beauty and peacefulness of the Moreno Valley
so much that going home to Santa Fe after our visits became harder and harder. So in 2002 we made this our full time residence.
Angel Fire has proven to be a great place to raise a family. It is a small and safe community with caring residents who look
out for each other. Our son Colbey, who is now 12, enjoys skiing, mountain biking, camping, 4-wheeling, theater and scouting.
The schools are great with plenty of activities. And since the kids only go to school 4 days a week there's lots of time for play. Even our dog Lulu and office cat Rascal appreciate the outdoors. Brett and I absolutely love raising our son in the mountains.
For me, living in a small town means being involved. Currently I serve on the board for the Cimarron Municipal School District.
I am chairperson for Village of Angel Fire Lodger's Tax Committee and team coordinator for Team Angel Fire (our youth ski and
snowboard program). For downtime, I enjoy getting together with friends and traveling with my family.
